about 4×4

Let’s talk a little about what 4×4 offroad is for us. Our company considers 4×4 to be something that is either full-time or on-demand and is normally connected via a transfer case. Providing an additional output driveshaft and, in many cases, additional gear ranges. We work on a vehicle with four-wheel drive and torque supplied to both axles. It is described as “all-wheel drive” (AWD). However, “all-wheel drive” typically refers to a set of components. The specific functions and intended off-road application generally conform to modern usage of terminology. “Four by four” or “4×4”, as our name implies, is often used to refer to a class of vehicle in general. Syntactically, the first digit indicates the total number of shaft ends. The second indicates the number of shaft ends that are driven.
